This educational tool has been contributed by eminent neonatologists and nurses from all over India. The ten modules focus on improving the quality of medical practices by doing no harm, resulting in the best outcomes for preterm neonates.
Each module has some learning objectives which are stated upfront in the module. Each module uses webinars, videos of routine procedures and practices, text materials for self reading, case studies and posters which are followed by multiple choice questions at the completion of each learning objective. The participants pass the module and generate their certificate only if they have attained 80% marks in the multiple choice questions. After certificate
generation, the participant is eligible for participation in the skill training and simulation workshop which is done by a team of facilitators. This workshop involves hand on and each module requires a day for completion.
We as a team involved with the creation and implementation of the educational material strongly believe that this new educational methodology of learning involving simulation has a built in potential for implementation; thus improving the quality of preterm baby care.
The entire package (self learning, skill building and simulation) is envisioned to be administered by state medical colleges to the SNCU’s under their supervision via Hub and Spoke model in a blended learning environment.
